Sergei Golovko – internationally acclaimed virtuoso marimba-soloist and percussionist-extraordinary. He completed his studies at the Moscow State Conservatory and Russian Academy of Music.
Sergei was a star soloist with a leading Russian Orchestras. He has toured internationally, playing to audiences in England (The Royal
Albert Hall), Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Belgium, Germany, Korea, China and other countries.
Sergei’s colourful interpretations of famous compositions, combined with master marimba and xylophone technique that he has acquired have attracted tremendous public appeal. He has been awarded prizes and honorary diplomas at domestic and international festivals such as the “National Percussion Content”, the International Festival in Korea and the “Vienna-Music” and “Radio-France” Festivals in Europe.
Australian audiences had a chance to Sergei in action at the finals of the Herald Sun Operatic ARIA Awards, with a performance at the Melbourne Concert Hall that blitzed the critics.

In recent years, Sergei has particularly enjoyed being featured regularly as a marimba-soloist with the Australian Pops Orchestra, playing works ranging from F.Lizt to light classics and pops. He has performed many times as a guest-artist in Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Concert Hall, Perth, Adelaide.
Sergei is International Master Educator Endorser with “Malletech” company (USA) and playing exclusively on “Melletech” instruments. He is also Founder and Director of the Melbourne Percussion Ensemble School and Marimba Academy. Sergei currently teaching at Victorian College of the Arts, Ivanhoe Girl’s Grammar School and McKinnon Secondary College. For the past few years his students have won many awards in different categories at the Australian Percussion Eisteddfods, Royal South Street Festivals and other competitions.
Sergei is also working for Blackeye Productions - Music Publishing Company, specialising in Classroom and Concert Percussion Literature.
